I recently purchased several watercolor scrolls from a dealer who specializes in Asian antiquities. This piece depicts a mountain and landscape setting. The painting is done on traditional rice paper with a threaded mesh backing still intact. The palette is soft with mossy greens and black, the natural fiber woven mat has been hand-painted. The frame uses a stacking technique, featuring an inner gold frame and the outer black fluted frame. Under glass.
