Originally, this hand painted silk image was presented in an extremely formal way with badly aged damask edging. Once the actual painted area was removed from its surrounding it took on a new vibe. With the addition of some gold leaf, a hand painted background, and a ‘firework’ display of random red and gold flares of silk threads bring a modern twist on an otherwise static image. Utilizing the stacking technique, I paired red lacquer and gold leaf frames to create this stunning piece. Under glass.
