I think that this piece, along with its companion, are the truest example of The House of the Golden Radish vibe. The embodiment of old and new is really at play here.
It starts with this hand painted image on silk. In this piece a male figure is seated on what appears to be a tiger skin and throne and wears the traditional dress of ancient era. I have added gold leaf to the edges and floated it over a remarkable hand blocked fabric in shades of yellow, ochre, black and white. The stacked framing technique featured here is the crowning touch - with an inset of white lacquered wood surrounded by this large-scale, hand gilded spherical frame. Under glass.
