LYNNETTE DRIVER

Brevard, North Carolina

COLORFUL, BOLD, ABSTRACT

My art is a reflection of my philosophies towards life. “Keep trying, if one way doesn’t work, try another, don’t take yourself too seriously, and things will eventually work out.” I approach my work with the same optimism, creating layer upon layer, until finally satisfied.

Although I received my art degree from Elmhurst University, outside Chicago, my style is very different from what I was formally taught. I seldom have a planned out color palette. Instead, I enjoy digging through the piles of paints surrounding me in my studio, and grabbing the ones that strike my fancy at the time. I believe in serendipity and I believe my art style reflects this. I often find when not having too rigid of a plan, I end up in a much better place than I could imagine (on the canvas and in life).

Twelve years ago, on a whim, my family and I moved from the Chicago suburbs to the mountains of North Carolina. I am now being inspired by the ever changing beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountain view seen from my back porch. Using happy colors and broad strokes, I hope to spark the same joy in the viewer as I feel when painting.
