The entire mosaic process itself, for me, is a meditative journey. The practice embodies the beauty of patience and precision. Her love of the ancient art of mosaic was ignited during a summer long trip to the Middle East in the 70’s and has remained a lifelong passion. Finding endless inspiration in the folk art of different cultures, she is drawn to the rich colors and textures. Born and raised in Arizona, her work is also influenced by the Southwest.

The challenge of translating an idea into thousands of glass shards or tesserae, placing each bit in a certain way to achieve a sense of movement and flow, is a creative process that she finds joyful and is grateful every day to be doing what she does. 

Tina lives in Virginia Beach, where she works and teaches mosaics in her home studio.
