19th Century French Brass Bound Reliquary 001

The first in a series of three, this Napoleon III relic features Holy Mary Our Lady Mother and Child. For centuries reliquaries like this represented the spiritual significance of the people they honored. This is the largest carving of the three and like the others it is surrounded by a custom made, stacked series of hand painted mats.  The frame is hand gilded wood from Italy featuring a lovely flared design.
