This piece is hard to define...no signature, perhaps an emerging artist at the time? No real way to determine the age apart from the stretching technique used with large exposed nail heads and the apparent aging.
It is, however, very easy to call it FANTASTIC! Painted some time in the 19th century, oil on canvas and in good antique condition...please see photos for light scratches, bald spots etc. If you appreciate antique or vintage, you will love this painting.
Painted on french linen ( stamp with maker and PARIS on back).
I have re-presented this work in a new frame of red lacquer and gold insets, giving it a fresh modern twist.
